In this paper we report the production of C60 using the arc ignition of graphite. A set up was developed at Department of Physics, which uses an evacuated chamber having a free flow of He gas at desired pressures. This had also had a provision to bring two graphite rods through which large D.C current can be passed using a high current low voltage power supply. Provision for cooling the graphite rods by circulating cold water around, considering that the temperatures could rise up to 4000oC. The resultant carbon soot was purified and characterized by FTIR. The observed IR peeks confirmed the presence of Solid C60. Thus we have at our disposal a set up for the production of C60. n of solid C60.
