Abstract
62 species included in 25 genera and 5 families of Dicranales are described and illustrated. Pleuridium tenue with long seta as illustrated by Gangulee, 1971 has been excluded from this genus. In order to felicitate determination of the various taxa, the keys are drawn mainly on the basis of vegetative characters. The taxonomic affinities of the pertinent taxa are indicated. The evolutionary trends witnessed in the Dicranales are also listed. The family Ditrichaceae, for reasons given in the text, has been treated after the Dicranacea in departure to the earlier placing of this family.
